As President & CEO of Community Works Consulting, Carol secures funding for nonprofit organizations, designs and delivers facilitation services to meet complicated planning needs, and provides a range of services that builds the capacity for the nonprofit sector.

Before launching Community Works Consulting, Carol directed the day-to-day operations for the development department of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, a multi-million dollar social service, health and community services center. In this position Carol successfully managed a $1.4 million expense budget and directed an 11 person team, collectively raising $4 million annually from individuals, foundations and corporations.

Carol brings to her position more than 20 years’ experience volunteering and working in and with community-based nonprofit organizations. She has a proven track record of creating environments where staff, volunteers and contractors thrive and deliver consistent, high-end results, results that have only multiplied with the efforts of her talented Community Works Consulting team. As a volunteer, Carol has served on boards of directors, advisory boards, event production committees and strategic planning workgroups for a range of nonprofit organizations.

Aga Kunska
Aga KunskaGrants Specialist
Agnieszka (Aga) Kunska joined Community Works Consulting as a grantsmanship consultant in January of 2012. Aga’s grantsmanship is characterized by compelling writing that successfully engages new funders and increases gifts from existing funders. Aga’s specialties range from creating strategic grantsmanship campaigns to increasing grant support for organizations that are new to grantsmanship to establishing and maximizing relationships with funders.

Aga brings to her work more than 15 years of experience working with nonprofit arts organizations in New York and Chicago, as well as three years in professional service marketing based in Southern California. Aga holds a Bachelor of Arts from Towson University and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University.

Patrice Wong
Patrice WongSenior Strategist, Grants and Capacity Building Specialist
Patrice (Pat) Wong joined the Community Works Consulting team in 2013 as a senior consultant. Her experience and expertise has lent itself to a primary specialty in capacity building and grantsmanship services. Prior to joining the Community Works Consulting team, Pat served as the executive director of Long Beach Day Nursery, overseeing a budget of more than $3.0 million. During her impressive tenure with the Day Nursery, she engineered a financial turnaround within the agency, eliminating a long-standing structural deficit and thus ensuring the fiscal viability of this 100+ year old organization. As a result, under her leadership, the Day Nursery was named “Best Child Development Center in Southern California” in 2010 by viewers of Best of LA and “Non-Profit of the Year” in 2012 by the Long Beach Press Telegram.

Pat is a true executive-level professional who has tackled many of the difficult problems that agencies are facing in the capacity building stage. Her track record is backed by a Master of Business Administration in marketing from the USC Marshall School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from Occidental College. She has also completed executive education in Commercial and Industrial Development at the USC School of Urban and Regional Planning, and in Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, rounding out her long list of accomplishments within the industry.

Aubri Kaesman
Aubri KaesmanAdministrative Manager
Aubri Kaesman joined Community Works Consulting staff in 2012. The Community Works Consulting team has given Aubri the title of Director of Order and Harmony – she provides just that for our firm. Aubri’s role is that of office manager, executive assistant and client liaison. She handles Community Works Consulting’s schedule management, office management, information preparation, records management and document control, as well as being a communications liaison to clients for administrative needs.

Aubri began her career in management and administrative support more than 20 years ago. Prior to becoming part of the Community Works Consulting team, Aubri’s worked in the design and construction industries. She attained her degree from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
